Description

This is the first version of the OCTOPI games on the iPad, featuring better than ever game play.

With an interactive tutorial and beautiful graphics, it is the perfect introduction to this series of action games for your brain.

OCTOPI is a single player game that uniquely melts together turn-based and real time game play. You control a creature called 'octopi', that consists of several circles ('cells'). In order to 'move' the octopi, you add cells step by step, spawning new cells from the old ones by touch gestures. The spawned circles are connected to their parents, forming groups of cells.

You start each level with one or more 'base cell's that never die and pump life into all other cells. Each non-base ('regular') cell has a life span of several turns. As these regular cells die of natural causes, the younger circles that spawned from them get disconnected from the base cell. This is deadly, unless if you can reconnect them to the base by spawning intermediary circles within three turns. Each circle that dies before its time in this way costs you one life.

The beginning of something great

:
As a developer there is a fine line of balance between ease of play and difficulty. There are games which fall to the side of being too difficult and barely make a dent into the market and then there are games that bring you a light experience with little to no challenge. If there is one thing true about OCTOPI, it is that the game does not shy away from challenge. It looks easy at first but when you have 120 seconds to keep an octopi alive and snowflakes coming from all sides and coins you must collect, you will feel the sweat in your hands. I played and played and played dying time and time again but not once did I quit and never return. I stuck with the game because what it offers is unlike anything being offered to the market at this time. There are no fruits, candies, birds, running or other game play mechanics. This is original and this is from the start a challenging step in the right direction. I cannot wait to watch this game blossom and truly find even more mechanics to add as I am sure it will. I am hooked, and so will you when you play OCTOPI.

Challenging!

:
It takes some time to learn how to get this game down so that you play it well, it actually takes a good amount of strategy of where to expand your cells. The first few times I played I just died right off not understanding exactly how to go about it. In fact in the tutorial it should go further in stating about the little enemy things and how you go about protecting the octopi. Anyways it was really fun and had me going at it for awhile (I think I yelled at it a few times too). If you enjoy pick-up-and-play strategy games you will enjoy this one. Thanks for the game!
